Richard Entwistle, Sr. Obituary
Born in New London, Connecticut, he was the son of the late Herbert and Bertha Entwistle.
Early in his career, Mr. Entwistle was employed by The Hillery Sheet Metal Company. As a Misquamicut businessman, he was the owner/operator of the Sandpiper motel and restaurant and the Captain's Galley restaurant. Mr. Entwistle also owned a construction company, specializing in foundations.
Richard was an avid collector of antiques. He especially enjoyed working on antique tractors and classic automobiles. Together with his wife Agnes, he enjoyed traveling the United States and abroad.
Along with his wife, he leaves two sons, David Scott Entwistle of Orlando, Florida and Richard W. Entwistle Jr., of Westerly. He also leaves four grandchildren.
The Entwistle family will greet friends and family on Monday, Oct. 21, from 4-7 p.m., at Gaffney Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly. The funeral and burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mr. Entwistle's memory can be made to Trinity Lutheran Church-Food Pantry in Ashaway, RI. For online condolences, please go to www.gaffneydolanfuneralhome.com

I didn't know papa for very long but for the 3 years I did they were wonderful. He has and will always be in my heart. He was the smartest man, loving man I knew. You will be missed papa.

Our sincere sympathies are extended to the entire Entwistle family. We have the greatest memories of the High Tide and The Galley. Dick and Herbie will always be with us and we thank them for their kindness over the years.

Aggie, I am so sorry for your loss. I worked at the sandpiper for Dick and remember a day that a customer gave me a hard time. Dick took care of the situation before I knew what happened! The customer was NOT always right! I was treated very kindly by you too, Aggie. I treasure the memories.

Most all of the Entwistles (except maybe some I don't know) have had a profound and worthy part of my life. Even more than my parents have!!!

To a man with a love and wisdom of life who shared and took his time to teach me many of the great wonders of his. He will never be forgotten and will always be loved by me, for there has been a special place in my heart I've always held for him. You will be sadly missed and so happily remembered. My condolences to the Entwistle family. I have many fond memories of working at the High Tide and the Captains Galley with Dick and Herbie. He was always very kind to me. I will always remember his devilish smile. He was a local treasure that will be missed.
