Lula Latimore Obituary
Lula Latimore was born Nov. 12, 1958, to Evans and Mollie Seawood.
After graduating high school, she joined the Air Force. During her military career, she worked in logistics and supply, serving in Operation Desert Storm in 1992 and Operation Enduring Freedom in 2002. During her 21 years of service, she was presented several awards, including the Air Force Achievement Medals in 1994, 2002 and 2005, and the Commendation Medal in 1998.
After retiring from the military in 2005 as Msgt. Lula Latimore, she went on to work at Maxwell AFB commissary and earned her bachelor's degree in management communication from Amridge University. She then went on to work at the IRS. Her final appointment was with the Department of Veterans Affairs, until she finally retired due to her illness in 2015.
Throughout her life, Lula was a faithful servant of the Lord and stayed in the word. She was a member of the Elmendorf Gospel Service in Elmendorf, Alaska, Corinth Baptist Church in Alamogordo, N.M., and Fresh Anointing House of Worship and True Deliverance Ministry in Montgomery, Ala. She tithed/offered consistently and generously. She loved to sing and sung in various choirs throughout the years. She died from pancreatic cancer on March 12, 2018, at 59 years old. She was strong and faithful to the very end.
Preceding her in death are her parents, Evans and Mollie Seawood; brothers, Conory Seawood, Charles Seawood and E. Jr. Seawood; sisters, Della Jones, Flora Cross, Leonia Seawood and Shirley Seawood.
She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Amanda Rothstein and Valerie Latimore, both of Baltimore, Md.; grandchildren, Jackson and Jocelyn Rothstein of Baltimore, Md.; brothers, Leodis Seawood of Forrest City and Michael Seawood of Montgomery, Ala.; sisters, Ruth Seawood and Alberta Fulkner (Bill) of Montgomery, Ala.; Theresa Seawood and Charlene Seawood, both of Atlanta, Ga., and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services for Lula Seawood Latimore will be held Saturday, March 17, 2018, at 11 a.m., at the Union Hill M.B. Church in Palestine with Minister Chris Seawood delivering the eulogy.
Kincaid Funeral Services of Forrest City is in charge of arrangements.
