Rose Marie Franklin Obituary
Ms. Rose Marie Franklin, affectionately known as "Mrs. Tookie," was born Aug. 29, 1932, in Brinkley. She was the second child of four children born to the late Clearena Richardson. She was raised by her grandparents, the late Pete Franklin and Cora Rosser-Franklin.
Rose Marie attended Lincoln High School, Class of 1950. She worked as a cashier/dispatcher at Lewie's Café and Cab Stand. She lived in Forrest City most of her life until her health failed, she then moved to Memphis to live with her daughter, Gwendolyn Franklin-Okocha.
She accepted Christ at an early age, and joined Summerfield Missionary Baptist Church in Forrest City under the direction of Pastor James E. Rhodes.
Rose Marie transitioned to her heavenly home on Saturday, May 5, 2018, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Pete Franklin and Cora Rosser-Franklin; her mother, Clearena Richardson and her siblings, Lena Mae Fisher, Betty Lee Welch and Clinton Franklin.
Rose Marie leaves to cherish her precious memories four sons, Tyrone Johnson and Bobby Franklin, both of Milwaukee, Wisc., Rodney Franklin (Joann) of Forrest City and Monte Franklin (Carol) of Blytheville; six daughters, Donna Franklin of Milwaukee, Wisc.; Brenda Miller (Anthony), Gwendolyn Franklin-Okocha and Betty Shelton (Jerome), all of Memphis; Gail Franklin of Hinesville, Ga., and Clearena Jordan (Calvin) of Forrest City; 32 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be Friday, May 11, 2018, from 3 to 6 p.m., in the chapel of Kincaid Funeral Service.
The funeral service for Rose Marie Franklin will be held Saturday, May 12, 2018, at 1 p.m., at Beth Salem M.B. Church with Rev. Jerry Green delivering the eulogy.
Burial will be at Forrest Park Cemetery under the direction of Kincaid Funeral Service.
Kincaid Funeral Service of Forrest City is in charge of arrangements.
