TIFTON — Joyce S. Crosby, 77, died Sunday, March 7, 2010 at Tift Health Care. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today at the First United Methodist Church with Dr. Glen Martin and the Rev. Jim Dominey officiating. Burial will follow at Oakridge Cemetery.Mike Johnson, Tommy Johnson, Bill Johnson, David Smith, Joe Smith, Richard Mellin, Brad Crosby and Matthew Crosby will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the Beacon Sunday School Class.Mrs. Crosby was born Dec. 29, 1932 in Jacksonville, Fla., to Lemual Suber and Hannah Barineau Suber, both deceased. She was preceded in death by a twin sister, Loyce Suber. Mrs. Crosby was an active member of First United Methodist Church of Tifton and was a member of the Beacon Sunday School Class. She moved to Tifton in 1968 from Quincy, Fla. She attended Florida State University. She worked as a secretary for Northside Baptist Church for 15 years and later as billing clerk for McClellan Truck Lines until retirement. She loved bridge and was a member of several bridge clubs. She worked with the soup kitchen and Meals on Wheels.Mrs. Crosby is survived by her husband, Phillip Wright Crosby of Tifton; a daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Andy Thompson of Soperton; a son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Teri Crosby of Wrightsville; two grandchildren, Matthew Crosby and Hannah Crosby; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Madge Johnson of Tallahassee, Fla., Pauline Smith of Quincy, Fla., and Mary and Dick Mellin of Zellwood, Fla.Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to First United Methodist Church, 107 W. 12th St., Tifton, Georgia 31794.You may sign the guest registry at www.albritton-beaumontfuneralhome.com.
