Beverly Morris

At nearly 93, our loving mother Beverly Ann (Ure) Morris passed on to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 9, 2020. She was born the fourth of five children to Edna and Ira Ure in Utah. Her family moved to Idaho where they owned and operated a large farm. One of Beverly's jobs was to cut the tops off onions.
She graduated from Nyssa High School. During WWII she was a sky watcher. She graduated from the University of Oregon with a BS in Education. It was through a Sigma Kappa sister that she met and later married Bob Morris, a pharmacist. She taught elementary school for 2 years in Oregon. After moving to Eureka, California she and Bob purchased Henderson Center Pharmacy which they operated for 33 years. Beverly worked at the pharmacy in many capacities. Her favorite was attending gift shows to purchase specialty gift items. She also focused her time caring for her four children and volunteering.
Beverly greatly enjoyed the outdoors. She was a Girl Scout leader for several years. Some of her favorite outdoor activities were: camping, boating, water and cross-country skiing, playing tennis, traveling the United States and the world, hiking, and later walks along the marshes, wetlands, and beaches looking for birds and other wildlife. She looked forward to spotting birds of various kinds, quail, skunks, fox, bear, and deer out the windows of her home each day. An avid reader and bridge player, she also enjoyed entertaining, gardening, attending jazz festivals, doing crossword and jigsaw puzzles, baking lemon bars for various functions, and spending time with her family and friends.
Beverly was an active member and past president of the Women's Auxiliary of the Humboldt Del Norte Pharmaceutical Association. She was a long-time member for over 50 years and actively involved in many capacities at the First Presbyterian Church of Eureka. She was also a long-time member of PEO Chapter TD in Eureka. She was actively involved in many capacities including several terms as president .
Those who knew her experienced her caring friendship, kindness, generosity, friendliness, resilience, and her love of God, family, and life. She was a woman of wonder who never stopped exploring, questioning and inviting the new and exciting into her life. She loved everyone and saw the best in all. Her sense of dignity, duty and diligence sets an example to everyone in her family and those around her. She was a remarkable woman who set a bright light in the sky to let everyone know where they should start their journey. She loved us well and will be greatly missed.
She and Bob had been married 59 years at his passing ten years ago. She was also preceded in death by her 3 sisters, her brother, and her daughter Susan. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Pam Morris and Mike Croan (Juneau, Alaska), her son Rob Morris (Eureka, California), and her daughter and son-in-law Kathy (Morris) and Terry Borges (Visalia, California), seven grandchildren (Sulie, Abigail, Andrew, Trent, Kristina, Kelly, and Robert), and 3 great-granddaughters (Hosanna, Jubilee, and Alivia).
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory and greatly appreciated by the First Presbyterian Church, 819 15th Street, Eureka, California 95503 or P.E.O. Chapter TD c/o Loretta Eckenrode, 1525 John Hill Road, Eureka, California 95501.
A memorial service will be planned for her immediate family when possible.

I have known Beverly for many years. Her husband Bob always came to our office about 7:00 o’clock in the morning! Somehow he knew that I came to work early and he could get things done before he opened his pharmacy. He always spoke highly of Beverley.

Bev was a dear friend of many years. We enjoyed hiking, travel, plays, concerts, cross-country skiing, and dinners out together. She and Bob are both greatly missed by us and by their family and community.

My memories of Mrs. Morris go back to my friendship with Pam, her eldest daughter, my childhood first grade friend. Living in the neighborhood, sleep overs in the "trailer"and a warm and generous family. The first color television in the neighborhood, the first Princes telephone, and always a loving and gracious lady. All my best to the family and most wonderful and special memories to a life well liv

I told my Mom, Helen Stromberg, about Bev Morris' passing. Our family also attended Eureka Presbyterian Church for many years and my Mom has many good memories of volunteering together with Bev and supporting the church. My condolences go out to Pam Morris with whom I shared many classes in Eureka schools. Also have memories of Bob Morris in his white uniform at Henderson Center pharmacy. He always had a smile!
