Joyce Evelyn Sanborn Witters
November 10, 1938 to January 15, 2021
Joyce died in her home surrounded by family due to multiple myeloma cancer. She was 82 years old. Joyce was born in Oakland Ca., the third child of Kenneth and Evelyn Sanborn. After the war the family moved to Loleta, California where Joyce graduated from Fortuna High School in 1956. Soon after, she married her high school sweetheart Robert (Bob) Witters. As an accomplished secretary/office manager she worked for an attorney, a bank president, a college president, an architect and a venture capitalist. Her biggest accomplishment was assisting her husband for 24 years in building and operating a successful petroleum business. They retired in 1997 and moved to Camino, Ca. where they built their dream home. Joyce loved to travel and visited eight European Countries. She enjoyed cruising the Caribbean Islands and the coastal cities of Mexico. She also enjoyed her motorhome trips, visiting eleven western states. For many years her favorite camping spot was Silver Lake Resort in Mono County.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Ken Sanborn, Jr. of Fortuna and Donald Sanborn of Ferndale, Ca. She is survived by her husband Bob, her daughter Sharon Witters of Fortuna, her son Mark (Linda) Witters of Meyers and four grandchildren, Emily Rabago of Fortuna, Jessica (Kurtis) Halley of Hydesville, Jeremy Witters and Derek Witters of Meyers and three great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Joyce will be remembered for her love of family, a positive outlook and a warm smile. No local services will be held. A graveside service will be held later in Eureka, Ca at the Sunset Memorial Park. The family would like to thank Dr. Cesar Ang, Dr. Ramasubbaiah and nurses and staff at the Marshall Fusion Center in Cameron Park for their loving care over the past 3.5 years
