Sharral "Sherry" McDonald Obituary
SHARRAL SHERRY MCDONALD Sharral "Sherry" McDonald passed away tragically on May 6, 2018. She was sixty years old. Sherry was born on October 5, 1957 in San Diego to Gerald "Steve' and Beverly "Jeanie" Swain. Her family moved back to Humboldt County in 1958. Sherry was the eldest of four children. She attended school in Hydesville and Fortuna High where she made many lifelong friends. In her younger years she enjoyed riding her horses and spending time with her family and friends. Even in adulthood she enjoyed playing sports which included softball, volleyball, basketball, bowling and playing darts. Sherry worked for Bayleysuit for 25+ years. While working for Bayleysuit she made many new friends and was able to travel to many places. After Bayleysuit she started doing in home healthcare. Sherry spent her sixty years taking care of her family and friends, reaching out to people in need, and helping with problems that weren't her own. She always sacrificed for others. She was the most selfless person you would ever meet. Her favorite time was spending time with her five grandchildren. Mom's strength and huge heart will be greatly missed. She made a beautiful difference in the lives of her family and friends. Her pretty and sweet smile, along with her exceptional kindness to all will be forever remembered. She was truly loved and we are so grateful for having called her our mother. She is survived by her husband Philip McDonald. Children Shayla Verbich (Mike), Shaun Bagley, Shelsey McDonald (Julio), Grandchildren Dylan, Braydan, Kolby, Ariana and Aubree. Father Gerald "Steve" Swain (Carol), Brothers Gerald Swain (Jessica), and Scott Swain (Taj). Sherry was blessed with a large family including Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and In-Laws who will all deeply feel this unexpected loss. Sherry is preceded in death by her mother Jeanie Swain, Brother Don Swain, Nephews Brandon and Steven Swain, Grandparents Clarence & Adeline Swain and William & Orilla Viggers, and many more Uncles, Aunts, Cousins, and In-Laws. A graveside ceremony will be held on Friday May 18, 2018 followed by a Celebration of Life at the main Fortuna Fire Hall at 4:30pm. Please feel free to bring your favorite dish to share.
