Sylvester "Sid" Madjarac Obituary
SYLVESTER SID MADJARAC Sylvester "Sid" Madjarac passed peacefully on June 14th, just one day shy of his 87th birthday. Born on June 15, 1931 in Ohio to parents John and Sophia, Sid joined the Armed Forces as a young man and after serving our country, moved to Southern California where he met and married Marlene-with whom he had two children, Angelique "Angie" and Scott. After moving to Blue Lake Sid purchased the legendary "Logger Bar," and spent many years making memories and entertaining local friends and family. Of his many accomplishments Sid was most proud of his service in the United States Marines during the Korean War. Sid served bravely at the Battle of Chosin Reservoir where he became part of US Marine history as a Gunnar with the 1st Marine Division, 3rd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment (H-3-5). Sid traveled annually to reunions for many years often accompanied by Scott. He was preceded in death by his children Angie and Scott and their mother "Leanie," by his Brother Walter and his wife Norma, Brother Bob, his parents Sophia and John, and Step-Mother Mary. He is survived by his Grandson Shane; Granddaughter Lacey and her husband Steve; Great Grandson Cody; Great Nephew John; Great Niece Karen, her children Ramanda & Matt and their children Makenna & Kalynn and Nathan, Deanna & Mark. He will be remembered for the bravery he yielded on the battlefield, his fierce friendship and his masterful sense of humor. Please share your photos and memories with his Granddaughter Lacey at lacey6352@gmail.com, as she hopes to put together a memory book. Please sign the guestbook at www.times-standard.com
