Services will be held today, December 6th, 2005, for Linda Lou Garrick, who passed away December 4, 2005, in Fortuna at the age of 55. She was a resident of Hydesville.
Linda was born July 2, 1950, at Camp Lejune, North Carolina. She graduated from USC medical Center with a degree in nursing in 1972 and moved to Humboldt County in 1980 where she worked as a Registered Nurse at Redwood Memorial Hospital.
Linda loved the outdoors, hiking and camping. She loved working in her rose garden and the beautiful garden she raised every year and sharing the bounty of her work with her family and friends. Linda was an avid amateur writer of science fiction stories which she read to her children and nieces and nephews. They were so interesting the children wanted to read them and the family credits her for her children and nieces and nephews being excellent readers.
She is survived by her husband, Stephen Garrick of Hydesville; children, Robert Vaughn and his wife Karen of Dixon, CA, Shari Vaughn of Steamboat Springs, CO, and Stephanie Garrick of Salem, OR; mother, Naomi Mason of Hydesville; sister, Nancy Smith and her husband Charles of Ramona, CA; and two brothers, Al Mason of La Habra, CA, and Jim Mason of Hydesville. She is also survived by four nieces, four nephews and numerous other relatives.
Friends are invited to attend memorial services today, December 6, 2005, at 3:00 p.m. at Grace Baptist Church, 220 Buhne Street, Eureka, with Pastor Bob Atkinson officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of Goble’s Chapel Fortuna.
The family ask that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made in Linda’s name to HCAR, P.O. Box 2010, Eureka, CA 95502.

My thoughts and prayers are with all of you in this time of loss. Linda was a mentor in the OB Dept. at Redwood Memorial when I started there as a new OB RN. She was always very positive and had such a contagious laugh and smile. She was a wonderful, caring person, as well as a nurse. She treated every person as someone special. She taught me many things and told me many stories of her loving family. I know she loved you all greater than herself. Hopefully, these memories will overshadow some of your grief and bring a smile to your face. She will be greatly missed by many of us.
