Douglas Wade Broyles, 67, of Longmont, died June 3, 2013, at St. Anthony's Hospital. He was born July 20, 1945, in Los Angeles, California, to Ralph and Bessie Broyles (Blackshire) who preceded him in death. Doug attended Arizona State University where he met the love of his life, Peggy Broyles (Naughton). They married on June 6, 1968, in Scottsdale, Arizona. Doug and Peggy moved to Longmont, Colorado, in 1981. Doug and his wife, Peggy, were on the ministry staff for Campus Crusade for Christ from 1968 to 1984. He continued his career doing what he did best, putting others first, giving generously, and helping people in any way he could. He was a beloved manager in the service industry who was able to make friends with all of his employees and customers. He made an impression on everyone he met and touched many lives along the way with his unique sense of humor and giving heart. Doug was a beloved husband, father, and "Poppy." His family was his pride and joy. He enjoyed watching his daughters and granddaughters participate in gymnastics, dance, and softball. He enjoyed visiting all of his nieces and nephews (Scott, Kevin, Brian, Stephanie, Paul, Kimberlie, and Chad) and was close with all of them. Doug was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Broyles. He is survived by his four daughters, Tammy Wergin (Chris) of Longmont; Tracy Broyles of Salem, Oregon; Mindy Leonhardt (Erik) of Frederick; and Amanda Galitz (Micheal) of Longmont; one sister, Carolyn Cole (Jerry) of Palmdale, California; and three grandchildren, McKenzie, Keegan, and Kamryn Wergin, with one grandchild due in July. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 11, at Flatirons Community Church, 355 W. South Boulder Rd. in Lafayette. Memorial contributions may be made to the Donor Alliance (www.donoralliance.org) or to http://www.servantpartners.org/ in order to help rebuild Chimalhuacan, Mexico, a city to which Doug was going to travel on a humanitarian mission.

A fine team-mate at Crescenta Valley High School in La Crescenta California. We missed Doug at the 50th reunion of his graduating class, held June 22, 2013. He was remembered fondly. Jim Stembridge Salem, Oregon

I met Doug when I started my job back in November of 2012. My favorite memories of him were seeing him and his friends come and shoot at the club every week. My first time at Flatirons church, Doug and I saw each other in the foyer, and sat together during service. He surely blessed those he was around and I pray that God blesses those he has temporarily left behind.

Doug's sense of humor and love for the Lord Jesus are what I first remember of days on Campus Crusade staff in Colorado. God bless and give you peace in celebrating his home-going and love for you all.

We are so sorry for your loss. You may not remember us, but when your house was burning in San Bernadino, you came to stay with us in Highlands. We have all gone different ways, but we remember your parents with such fondness. Our prayers are with you.

Words, however kind,
can't mend your heartache:
but those who care and
share your loss wish you

May you find strength
in the love of family
and in the warm embrace
of friends.

I am so sorry for your loss. I know he raised amazing daughters so I believe he was an amazing man with love for The Lord in his heart. I was not blessed with really knowing him. But know first hand what an amazing person Tammy is and I know in my heart that he had a huge part in that. I am praying for all of you as you go through this difficult time. God bless you all. Love Sande.

Doug was one of the most beautiful men I have ever known. I had the pleasure of having a few late night talks with him over the years when he would visit, that always left me feeling inspired and loved. He was so amazing and I will miss him very much. All my love to you and your families. (((HUGS)))
