Steve Morden Obituary

MORDEN, Steve 1945 - September 11, 2017 Steve, dear husband, grandfather, step-father, brother, uncle and friend, passed away peacefully at home on September 11, 2017. He faced his battle with cancer with courage and an inspiring positive outlook to the end. Steve was born on July 18th, 1945 in the UK and immigrated to Canada at the age of 22. He led an interesting life doing a great variety of jobs, often helping those less advantaged, including youth support work and with the Attorney General as a probation officer. He was a caring, active and nature-loving, gentle man. Inspired by his brother, Robin; Steve became an avid birdwatcher and passed this passion on to his grandchildren. He loved the adventure of traveling and seeing new places with his wife, Marietta. They often spent time with his brothers in England and family in Switzerland. Steve enjoyed a discussion with others on many topics and would often have a good story to add to the conversation. He loved skyping with his brother, Alan, right up to the end. Thank you, Steve, for giving us so much love and laughter: your memory will live on in our hearts and we are better for having known you. A Celebration of Life for Steve is planned on October 20th, 2017, 2 pm at the Cedar Hill Golf Course Restaurant. Donations in Steve's memory can be made to Threshold Housing for at-Risk youth (http://thresholdhousing.ca)

I last saw Steve six years ago. Together we were responding to another old friend, Wolfgang Haus, who had terminal cancer. I have known Steve since 1969 and we shared numerous adventures in Prince George and England. Steve was always a calming, good humored, warm-hearted, creative soul. He'll live in my memories forever, he taught me lots of things.

My heart is heavy learning of Steve's passing. I am so grateful he was a grandfather to Maddison. Steve was so very kind, so very humble, and truly one of the best story tellers I have ever known. It was truly a privilege to have known this wonderful man!
