we are saddened with the news of Mr. McCaffray's passing; it was always great to catch up at Starbucks Duncan and to know they had their own mugs at the coffee shop!!! Your parents were very good to my Mom Shirley Garriock. He will be greatly missed by all.

I am so very sorry to hear of Charles McCaffray's passing.
I was lucky enough to have met him three years ago at Dorset College. The first time I met him I noticed that his smile lit up the room and his laughter was contagious. He was very caring and thoughtful, and in working with him I found his goal was always to create and build something for the better.
I really enjoyed talking to him about highland dancing and single and double malts. He also had a quick wit which I could very much appreciate.
He will be deeply missed.
My deepest condolences to his wife and family.

I knew Mr. CcCaffray when he was one of my High School teachers at Nepean High School in Ottawa in 1958-1960. He was an excellent teacher, one of the most memorable and one who helped shape my life. He has always remained in my memory. I am sad to hear of his death but confident that he lives on in the lives of the thousands of people who knew him over the decades. My condolences to his family.

Charles' magnetic personality and courage never failed to touch those he encountered.
He embraced situations and people in need of learning opportunities. He saw beyond the limitations of the past and contemporary practice to new levels of creativity and innovation in adult learning. Those of us who worked in aboriginal education owe a huge debt for the support and encouragement he provided. In the face of bureaucratic and institutional resistance, Charles provided novel approaches to accomplish great things. He provided an important legacy to the communities he served. I will miss his good humour, imagination, eloquence, wit and continuing fund of positive ideas of how the world should operate.
My wife, Judith McLean and I send condolences and best wishes to Ann and the family.

I was indeed saddened to hear that Charles J. McCaffray has left this good earth. To me, Charles was larger than life and I have so many fond memories of working with him at CNC for more than 10 years. Charles, Jim, Sharon and I were fortunate to share an extraordinary working relationship in our close offices, and I am left with many fond memories of that time. My heart is warmed with the knowledge of the rich legacy he has left with his eleven grandchildren. My thoughts are with Ann, Judith, Deborah, John, and Trisha as you mourn this great loss.

I was sorry to learn about Mr. McCaffray's death. It brought back many memories of my time while employed at the College of New Caledonia (1982-2003) I initially worked in the Registrar's Office and later in the Counselling Service. I recall that when I began working there, and I had only been there a few days, I was summoned to the Principal's Office. Yikes! What had I done? As it turned out, Mr. McCaffray only wanted to welcome me as a new employee to the College. What a comforting surprise! From then on, I had no problem, when from time to time, I asked to see him about events planned by the various committees I was associated with while working there for twenty years. My heart goes out to his family. He was a good principal! Madeline Dent.
