MAE BAHAN Obituary

Mae passed away peacefully on January 13, 2017 at the Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria BC.

She was born in Standard, Alberta on March 8, 1930, and is survived by her husband Rev. William (Bill) Bahan, four children, Richard (Pat) Bahan of Calgary, AB, Dell Marie (Vic) Wergeland of Victoria, Lorilee (Will) Hewson of Victoria, and Téa Bahan of Vancouver, 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Mae and Bill were married in 1950 and served together as a team for 63 years in the Ministry of the Church of the Nazarene from coast to coast.

There will be no public service at Mae's request. She wanted to have a family reunion in the summer when the weather in better!

If you wish to honour Mae she would be delighted if you would make a donation to the Compassionate Resource Warehouse, Victoria BC., or Nazarene Compassionate Ministries Canada. Helping the needy of the world was her passion.

Mae is enjoying Heaven with her Lord and Saviour and all those who have gone on before her. She is now at Peace!

Dear Bill, I have very fond memories of you both. My mind went to you both,,this afternoon. I googled your name. Mae's obituary appeared. I appreciated so much the support that you both provided a young pastor in the ministry. God is good!! I am currently teaching English in China. Lynda is home keeping the home fires burning. God bless you.

Mae was so easy to love! I am so glad that God allowed me to know her even if only for a few years. I am glad I will see her again and this is not the end. I always treasure the attached photo of Mae and Bill sitting on the swing at our Gabriola house. Love and blessings, Shirley Gremyachev

Bill and family:
What a wonderful heritage you have had in Mae! Her light and love for the Lord was always so evident in her daily life and all who knew her were blessed. May the Lord grant you peace and comfort as you remember her laughter, her smile, her kind words and her gentle hugs. Blessings to the entire family as you rest knowing she is now enjoying all that heaven has to offer her in the presence of Jesus!

Dell, I was very sorry to hear from Ilse of Mae's passing. I so enjoyed spending time with her folding clothes 'in the kitchen'.
My thoughts are with you.

Dell Marie, Vic and Family
It is with mixed feeling that I write this letter. Death is sad, but also rewarding for a saint.
Your Mom, Mae was a good woman, as her friend Larry would have said, a proper champion.
I knew that she loved her family and her God as evidenced in her life.
She has gone to be with her Saviour, preparing a place for us who one day will see Him face to face.
I look at life, probably a little different than most, some would say slightly off the wall most of the time.
But one thing I believe with all my heart is that Christ is with us always, from our pre-birth to our leaving the land of the dying to the eternal land of the living.
I view life as a sleep over, where we invite Jesus the Christ to stay with us and He does. Sometimes for many years and sometimes much shorter. It seems as one gets weaker in sickness, there comes a time when Jesus simply says to us,"hey why don't you stay over at my house,we're closer to my house than yours."
It is at this time that we say death rings its resounding bell, when really it is the doorbell of heaven with Christ announcing to Abba Father "Hey Dad its me and Mae can she stay over tonight?"
Lovingly Abba Father says "no problem" and the next day Mae asks if she can stay cause she loves being there so much.
Your amazing Mom and Grandma, Mae, probably misses you all, but in her new home, not nearly as much as you and yours miss her.
I am certain that if she had any last thing to say to you it would be simply,
Looking forward to you being here.

Your friends
Chris and Garry

Our sincere condolences on the passing of Mae Bahan. We talked with Mae and Bill at the Victoria Airport when we were all heading for the 2015 CNC Reunion in Calgary. Although they were experiencing some flight complications, both were in a merry mood, impressing us with their obvious ability to take setbacks in their stride. Our loving thoughts and prayers are with all of you.
