Gary Lindsay Obituary

LINDSAY, Gary 1945 2010 It is with extreme sadness that we announce the loss of Gary, born on April 25, 1945 in Victoria, BC, Gary left us on July 22, 2010 at the age of 65. He leaves his two sons, Jim Lindsay and Troy Lindsay; his daughter, Kim Lindsay; five grandchildren; four sisters; and many close friends and relatives. Born and raised in Victoria, BC, the son of James & Verna Lindsay, he was a lifelong resident of Victoria. Gary will be remembered best for his wholehearted commitment to his children, his love of music and never ending passion for the grocery business. Gary was inducted into the Victoria Rock & Roll Music Hall of Fame in September of 2007. He played guitar and sang in a band called The Noblemen" back in the 1960's. The band was originally known as The Wild One's", and was a popular mainstay in the Victoria music scene. When Gary wasn't playing his guitar he was stocking shelves at the local Shop Easy where he developed lifelong friendships with individuals that he continued to work along-side throughout his career at Thrifty Foods. Throughout his life and career Gary was loyal, determined, beyond hard working, a problem solver with a big heart who would give beyond what anyone could expect. We invite you to a celebration of his life in McCALL BROS. FLORAL CHAPEL, 1400 Vancouver Street, on Friday, July 30, 2010 at 10:00 am. The ceremony will be immediately followed by a reception. Interment entrusted to Royal Oak Burial Park. 597970

To all Gary's family. I was shocked to see that Gary had passed at such a young age. Gary stood up for me and Stan (Minnick) at our wedding May 8, 1965. He was a wonderful man and good friend, our whole family is so sorry for your loss.

To Gail, Gloria, Gina and Glenda: My thoughts are with you all as you deal with the loss of your brother. You may not all remember me, but we grew up together as kids on Dupplin Rd. I smile now when I think of "Little Gary Lindsay". My biggest memory is of him standing by my Bridal car teasing me about getting married. I moved from Victoria but the memories still linger.
My prayers are with you at this time.
