STEWART, Alice Patricia July 16th, 1927 - May 28th, 2018 Pat slipped away peacefully in the wee hours of the morning at the Kiwanis Pavilion, where she had lived for almost three years, accepting the challenges of dementia. Predeceased by her husband Bill, sisters Kay and Theresa and brother George, Pat is survived by her children Heather (David), Kent (Marianne), Kathryn (Raffaele), David (Paule) and her brother John Hearn. Her nine grandchildren and two great-grandsons continue her legacy. Born and raised in Moose Jaw, Pat graduated in nursing from the Regina Grey Nuns Hospital in 1949. After marrying in 1950, Pat raised her family while nursing in various provinces, finally retiring to Vancouver in 1969. There she continued nursing at Lions Gate Hospital. Pat loved to ski and was proud of being a "tour guide" at Whistler Mountain. Skating was another delight, with potlucks at the Stewarts' where there was always a singalong around the piano. Pat moved to Victoria in 1993, giving her granddaughters the gift of her presence in their lives. During her time at the Kiwanis, Pat lived in the moment, enjoying music, dancing and bus rides around the city. Special thanks to the very special Unit 2A staff whose kindness and compassion filled her final days with humour and fun. Thanks to Dr. Jenkins and Dr. Nicholls for their care. Pat would want to say a special thanks to Carmel, Clive, Chris and Pam for the brightness their visits brought her. A Private Family Service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Pat asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Society of B.C. or to the Oak Bay Kiwanis Pavilion Foundation. Condolences may be offered to the family at
