Brian passed away suddenly on Friday June 8th while fishing with his friends in the waters off of Sidney, only a few miles from where he was born at Resthaven Hospital almost 66 years ago.

He was an incredible husband, father and Papa, and was loved and adored by his wife of 45 years, Terry; daughters Jennifer and Laura; sons-in-law, Robin Lee and Ryan Hrynkiw; and his 5 granddaughters: Caitlyn, Adria, Avery, Emma and Teresa. He was always so proud of his "gaggle of girls" and they in turn adored him.

Brian was good at everything he did. He was a great cook, and an avid fisherman who loved to travel and spend time in his garden. He always had a smile and a kind word for everyone he met. Every day was an adventure and he met each one with enthusiasm.

He contributed greatly to the Saanich Peninsula community, which he loved. He spent many years with the Central Saanich Volunteer Fire Department, coached softball, volunteered at the Sidney Food Bank, was a past member of the Sidney Lions Club, and was an active member of the Sidney Anglers Association.

From the day after he graduated high school, to the day he retired 39 years later, he loved working for Butler Brothers and driving his ready-mix truck.

He was predeceased by his father Bram, his mother Margaret, brother George, sister-in-law Gail, brother-in-law Leo, and niece Kristy. He will be greatly missed by his brother Dale, sister-in-law Julie, sisters and brothers-in-law from the Crotty family: Pat, Ruth and Albert, Jeannette, Brian and Diane and Noreen and Don.

If desired, donations can be made in Brian's memory, to be used towards salmon enhancement and education, to: Sidney Anglers Association, PO Box 20087, 9839 5th Street, Sidney, BC, V8L 5C9

At Brian's request, a private service will be held.
