David Lake Obituary

LAKE, David Edwin Lot January 10, 1932 to May 29, 2009 With great sadness we announce the passing of Dave. Predeceased by his parents David and Thelma Lake, and his sister Beverley. Dave is survived by his wife Audrey, children Glenda, Dan (Frances), Shannon (Daryl), Linda (Dave), Alan (Nora) and Janet (James), grandchildren Bryan, Michael, Nicholas, Anna, Jonathan, Allison, Shawn, Megan and Devon. First a musician (playing the accordion and the organ) and later a tinkerer, ham radio operator (VE7L0T) and builder of all things. Dave's smiling face and gentle ways will be sorely missed by all, especially his wife and best friend Audrey. Family and especially the grandchildren were always his favourite topics of conversation and he was extremely proud of all. Special Thanks to Dr. Cook, 4 South staff at VGH and of course to all the staff at Selkirk Place who took such good care of Dave in his last months. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the First Open Heart Society of B.C. Private Family Arrangements. Condolences may be offered at www.sandsfuneral.com 544247

Dave and Audrey were very special neighbours to me at Tri-Ways Mobile Home Park. Dave build an artist easel and a Petti Point frame for me which I have enjoyed over the years. We had some great chats on Genealogy, usually over a glass of his wine. Dave was always willing to share his knowledge on how to research family history. I will always remember the day that Dave knocked on my door just to make sure I was alright because he hadn't seen me outside for a few days - such a thoughtful thing to do. Dave was a kind and gently soul. My sincere condolences to Audrey and the rest of the family.

Hello Audrey

First, my condolences to you and the family. Dave and I have been friends since way back in the Hillside Mall days when he operated the best organ shop in Victoria. He will be sorely missed by all. Again,my sympathies.

Well, Audrey, I know you and all your family will be feeling your loss as you say goodbye to your beloved Dave, and my heart is with you.
It was obvious to me, as a longtime friend, Audrey, that you and Dave were happy and content together, and enjoyed all your children and grandchildren.
And Glenda, having seen you together with your Dad many times at the Gazette, it was a pleasure to see the bond between you that only a father and daughter can have.
His love for all of you, and your love for him, with all your wonderful memories will be with you always.
With much love and sympathy,

To the family...
I am very sorry to hear of Dave's passing. My mom Vernice and Dave were cousins and I was fortunate to become a "geneology buddy" of Dave's. I enjoyed the letters he sent and the few times we got together to talk about our family tree.
Take care,

Hello Audry, oh I'm so sad to hear of Daves passing. Allthough I knew him briefly I enjoyed his wonderful appreciation of life and the enthusiasm for all things of wonderment. Strong memories of him are a reminder of what he gave to us all.
