CHEEKE, George Arthur Douglas (Doug) Passed away on June 3, 2018 at Victoria Hospice, Victoria, BC. He is survived by the love of his life, Dorothy, of 39 years and his beloved Great Dane, Sophie. He also leaves behind family and many close friends. Doug was born May 29, 1958 in Duncan, BC. He attended Vic High Secondary and graduated with a passion for cars; a passion that would shape his entrepreneurial spirit for life. Doug was a true entrepreneur. He was never afraid to try new business ventures and if they didn't work out the way he planned, he would move on and learn from the experience. Although Doug may have lived a less than anticipated life span, he and Dorothy carved out a life together that was jam packed with many adventures. Doug was a great story teller. Family and friends will recall the many witty and unique "Dougisms" that always made everyone laugh. Doug had the gift of gab. Doug also was well known in the Forklift Industry. He always cared about his customers' needs and would go the extra mile to please them. He loved big horsepower cars and his go-fast boats. He enjoyed going to car shows and swap meets, loved RV'ing and spending time in Glendale, AZ with his friends. Doug and Dorothy shared a great love of dogs. It was Great Danes or nothing. Doug will be greatly missed by his family and friends and remembered by those who knew him. Dorothy would like to extend her sincere thanks and appreciation to: Lee Curtis, Rod LeClaire, Dean Bellagente, Rick Smith, Pete Harding, and last but certainly not least his brother Rick. Sincere thanks also to Drs. J. Kinahan, A. Attwell, C. Stigant, and B. Nero. Dorothy would always tell Doug "no goodbyes" just "see ya later; till we meet again my love". A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the BC Cancer Agency or Victoria Hospice in Doug's name.
