KLEIN, George Frederick Age 75, passed away at his home in Victoria, surrounded by his family on Thursday, May 31, 2018. He was born on August 5, 1942 in Ottawa, Ontario to George and Florence (Schrie) Klein. George was born and raised in Ottawa and graduated from Carleton University with a master's degree in Electrical Engineering in 1965. He started his career at the Civic Hospital in Ottawa as a Biomedical Engineer and retired as Director of Biomedical Engineering for the Vancouver Island Health Authority in 1999. George married Jeannette MacDonald in 1990 and together they enjoyed traveling, sailing, and visiting their family and friends across Canada. He excelled at mastering the understanding of all things that were of interest to his sons and grandchildren. He built toys, created works of art with digital photos, and was an accomplished cook. He had an appreciation for wine and gardening and had a love of precision machinery ranging from coffee grinders to German cars and everything in between. He leaves behind his wife Jeannette, mother Florence, sons Michael and Peter (Juliette), sister Margaret (David), and grandchildren Laurel, Lance, William and Danica, as well as many nieces and nephews. George's family will be forever grateful for the exceptional care provided by his family and friends, the BC Cancer Agency, the Saanich Community Health Services and the VIHA Hospice Team. A memorial service will be held at the Chapel at the Royal Oak Burial Park, 4673 Falaise Dr, Victoria on June 11 at 11am.
