Hal passed away peacefully with his loving family at his side. He had nearly passed many times this winter but always seemed to find a way back to steal another precious moment with the family he loved and cherished above all else.

He was the youngest child of Molly & Harry Hallatt. Predeceased by his parents and siblings, Mac, Bessie, Peg & Herb. He is survived by his wife of almost 60 years Maurine and their children: Michael, Susan (Jenny) and Ian; granddaughters Josie, Hazel and Bea.

Hal practiced law for many years in Victoria, served as Chair of SMU's Board of Governors, and was especially proud to have led the school's transition to co-ed.

He leaves his family with many happy memories- summers at Shawnigan, winters at Mt. Baker, cruising the local waters in the Decibelle, hanging out in Baja on the hill and most recently in Fanny Bay where it seemed time stood still. His love was always unconditional and bound us together. He leaves his devoted family in good stead and as strong and resilient as ever. He will be sorely missed.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Hal's life at Renie and Hal's home at 735 Moss on Saturday February 10th. Please drop in anytime between Noon and 5pm.
