Obituary

EBERTS James McEwen passed away at Saanich Peninsula Hospital on March 11, 2004. Jim was born in Victoria, B.C. in 1918. Pre- deceased by his sister, Audrey. He leaves his loving wife, Clara, and many cousins, nieces and nephews in Canada and the U.S.A. The son of Harold F.H. Eberts and Winona Troup and the grandson of David McEwen Eberts (Barrister & Justice of Court of Appeal) and Mabel Hope Charles. Jim lived with his grandparents, Julia and Capt. James W. Troup, while attending St. Michael's School, Oak Bay High School and Craigdarroch Castle School. After U.B.C. Jim attended Boeing Aircraft School in California which led to a 19 year career with Trans Canada Airlines in Winnipeg. He opened RiversideMarina in 1960 in Winnipeg which he ran until retiring in 1982 to Victoria. Throughout his life, Jim was an avid fan and participant in hydroplane and auto racing and enjoyed collecting cars. No service by request. Private cremation. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of B.C. in Jim's memory.
