James Longbourne Obituary

LONGBOURNE, James William Died August 31st, 2009, at Kiwanis Pavilion Facility, Victoria, BC. Jim was born October 19th, 1919, in Duncan, BC, and was predeceased by his wife, Muriel (Boo) in 2002. Jim is survived by his sister, Grace (Gee) English and her husband Mick; nieces and nephew Jennifer English, Carol Brown, and Patrick English and grand nephews and niece, as well as cousins and in-laws in BC and in England. Jim joined the Royal Canadian Artillery in 1941 and was posted overseas. Jim and Boo lived in Deep Cove, North Vancouver before moving to White Rock. He worked for United Fruit Company (Chiquita Banana), for several real estate organizations before joining CPAir, subsequently Air Canada. Jim enjoyed his family, friends, travelling and stamp collecting. The family would like to thank the staff of Unit 2 and 3 at the Kiwanis Pavilion for their kindness and care of Jim over the last seven years. Thank you also to Jim's loyal friends who continued their contact while he was in the care facility. A remembrance tea will take place at 966 Snowdrop Ave, Victoria, on September 25th from 2-5 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Kiwanis Pavilion, 3034 Cedar Hill Rd, Victoria or to the Alzheimer's Society would be appreciated. 558974
