Dear Marie,
You are truly an amazing friend! I want to say thank you for inviting me into yours and John's life.
I will always cherish the time I was able to spend with my buddy.
I alway looked forward to our walks because I knew that I was going to be told an amazing story.
In most of all of his stories he always mentioned that he married the the best gal and had the greatest sons. He spoke very highly his extended family and friends and said he had the best childhood the best wife.
We often listened to music especially "James" Cd which always brought a big smile to John's face and a nice comment.
Thanks James:) It will have lasting memories for me.
My buddy will always have a special place in my heart.
My family and I would like to express our condolences to the Crofton family.
I miss you Bud!

I knew John Crofton's voice, rather than his person. He was a delightfully fluent and interesting public speaker.
He gave a talk to the Salt Spring Historical society in 1985, and an audio recording of these reminiscences of the Croftons at Harbour House, has been archived on the Salt Spring Island Archives website at saltspringarchives.com. I have transcribed this speech, and would be glad to share this with anyone interested. He was also recorded relating an archeological dig he took part in.
I have been so appreciative of John Crofton's fascination with and deep interest in history.
May I respectfully extend my sincere sympathies to Marie in particular, and to all the family.
