Noreen GROVER

Peacefully, in her sleep, our much-loved Noreen passed away from brain cancer on April 18, 2021. She leaves Bryan, her husband of 46 years, and her two children, whom she loved deeply and was very proud of, Andrew (Nadia) and Lindsey (Luke). She also leaves her sister Mary Rose and brother Robert (Eithne). As Grandmama, she had special affection for grandchildren Fred, Cole, Devon, Leila and Kiara.

Noreen (from Northern Ireland) met Bryan (from NZ) at a "blind date" party in Toronto. After marrying in 1974, they lived in Vancouver and Toronto, retiring to Victoria in 1991. When their new family home was being built in Victoria, Noreen contributed greatly to the design and project management, visiting the worksite daily, bearing muffins and smoothing over any issues.

In each place they lived, they were fortunate to meet good friends who helped create many of Noreen's best memories including gourmet dinner parties, BBQs around the pool and cross-country skiing. Noreen enjoyed art, music, opera, was a keen bridge player and an avid gardener, creating beautiful gardens wherever she lived. She was skillful at quilting, especially adept at including colours and fabrics from their travels in her creations, and sewing, her last project making yet another fabulous jacket.

Noreen had many interests, but she always had time to meet with friends to "solve the problems of the world" over coffee or lunch. Noreen was passionate about everything she did. Her energy and keen sense of humour will be greatly missed, and she will forever be in our hearts.
