TROFIMUK, Philip It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband and father on May 27, 2010. Philip's courageous battle with cancer ended in his home, surrounded by his loving family. Phil was born July 19, 1934 to a Ukrainian homestead pioneer family (parents, William and Anna Trofimuck) in Mayerthorpe, Alberta. He joined the RCAF in 1951 and proudly served for 35 years and 115 days, until retiring in Victoria. Phil was a quiet family man, an avid athlete, and a jack-of-all-trades with an exceptional work ethic. Philip will be missed by his loving wife, Joan, of 45 years; children Maryanne, Michael (Tara Pickering), Michelle, and Melanie (Roger Norris); seven grandchildrenPaige, Brenden, Jared, Bryer, Amy, Toryn, and Nya; siblingsPaul (Rae), Tillie (Gary) and Eva (Oley). Predeceased by his parents, and sistersMary and Olga. The Trofimuk family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the many healthcare workers who cared for Philip throughout his illness, particularly those who guided our family to recognize the final gifts of the past few months. A Funeral Mass will take place Saturday, June 5 at 11:00 at Our Lady Star of the Sea Chapel, 595 Galiano Cres, Belmont Park. Private interment to take place at Hatley Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Philip's memory to Victoria Hospice. 591233
