Reginald STONE

Obituary

STONE Reginald, born in Wolverhampton, England, died June 16, 2003 in his 93rd year. Leaves wife Thelma, son Ray, daughter, Sandra and dear cousin Gordon of Elstree, England. Dad arrived in Victoria for first visit 1950 before residing permanently here with wife Frances and two children in 1955. He shared spotlight on CJVI as organist on 'Rolling Home Show' and at 'Bernie Porters Music Studio' teaching. Dad was organist for Jerry Gosleys' Summer Smile Show for several years. Then Dad opened his music studio first on Broad Street in 1966 , later moved to Quadra St. After selling business in 1975 he rejoined Bernie Porter's Music. For many years, being energetic well into his eighties, he and Bernie played organs and piano at several retirement homes and even appeared on Channel six 'Go' at age 92 along with Bernie on piano. Dad will always be remembered for his quick wit, his memory for jokes, one liners and ad libs were notorious. A resounding thank you to all nurses on 7th floor North at V.G.H. for their excellent care of Dad right to the end. Especially Josepina and Kelly and to Dr. Pai for his special care. To his many fiends, Bernie Porter, family, Bill and June Barker, Lann Copeland, Harvey and Mrs. Baker, Dave Paulson, Mrs Wilson, Tom and Fiona Slattery, who gave him spiritual sustenance. No service by request. Any charitable donations should be sent to Dad's favourite W.W Fund or S.P.C.A. or P.E.T.A.
