Roy Herbert Archdekin passed away in Duncan, BC on August 4th 2018 at the age of 95. Roy is survived by his partner, Judith Daniels and sons, Graham (Julie) (Lindsay Hatherly, Jillian, Brian, Sean) Murray, Robin (Benjamin, Thomas, Ruth) and Jeffrey (Jocelyn) (Harrison, Hannah), and great grandson, Lochlan (son of Thomas). An only child, Roy grew up in Marpole (Vancouver) spending much of his time alone, exploring the Fraser River. As a father he gave his sons an appreciation for music, the English language, the outdoors, doing things well, and the need to question everything. Not a patient person, Roy had no time for fools. He knuckled under to no one, outliving his peers (both friends and foes). A constant of Roy's life was cutting firewood, which he continued into his 90s - as much therapy as it was to provide fuel for his home. Roy spent his final years living with Judith in Mill Bay and hiking the forests of Cobble Hill. "If, after I depart this vale, you ever remember me and have thought to please my ghost, forgive some sinner and wink your eye at some homely girl." H.L. Mencken
