At the age of 86 Sheila Diana Mary Cahill(nee Walters) passed away in her beloved city of Victoria. Mom was an admired and esteemed teacher as well as a principal. Her staff, students and family feel really grateful to have had her in their lives. Mom embodied love, kindness, dedication and always put others needs above her own. Mom pushed herself hard to be the best and would not accept excuses encouraging everyone to strive to improve their lives and make a better world.

In her spare time especially after retiring she enjoyed gourmet cooking, travelling, reading, gardening and had one of the largest teddy bear collections in Victoria. Mom was also active in charitable work sewing hand-made quilts for new-born babies.

Trips to Mount Washington with members of her family were a special joy for her even though she hated the cold and couldn't ski.

Predeceased by her husband Terence Cahill, and son Peter Sheila leaves behind her children Michael (Merly) and Jacqui (Chris) as well as her adored grandchildren Christopher, Mark, Alexander, Jonathan, Brittany and her great-granddaughter Magnolia. Mom also leaves behind her sister in England Marianne.

She leaves behind numerous friends, her companions at Berwick House, her book club members and all of her quilting circle.

Mom would not wish her friends and family to dwell in sadness at her passing but would encourage everyone to read a good book, enjoy a nice walk, dine with friends and family while making the most of their time as every day is a gift. Mom is an example of a life well lived. Her family wish to thank the hospital staff at Victoria General for their warmth, compassion and professionalism.
