Valerie Gurton Obituary

GURTON, Valerie Louise We lost Valerie quite suddenly on Tuesday night, September 26, 2006 at the Royal Jubilee Hospital, after a brief and difficult time with various troubling ailments that her system could not fight. She will be deeply missed by her three children: Randy, currently of Perth, Australia; Tracey, of Vancouver; Neil, of Victoria; and by their father, Duncan. She also leaves behind many long-time friends from Sidney and beyond, plus relatives, including her three siblings: Verlyn Brebner, Vancouver; Bob East, Port Alberni; Karen Brownfield, Edmonton and their respective families. Mum wasn't yet 65, and we have all been shocked by this rapid decline and tragic end. Her MS, while challenging, had been relatively stable, and she had dwelt successfully (with help from caregivers) in an independent apartment in Victoria for the past few years. Valerie will be remembered with great fondness and affection. If you would like to say goodbye to this classy, gracious and cheerful soul, please join us for a funeral service Monday, October 2nd, 2:00 pm at Our Lady of Assumption Church, 7742 West Saanich Rd. Reception to follow at Dunsmuir Lodge, 1515 McTavish Rd. Burial likely to take place Tuesday at Royal Oak Cemetery. Friends may also pay their respects Sunday 2:00-8:30pm at McCall Bros. (Johnson and Vancouver). 301035
