Wheldon Irene (Sister Miriam Theresa) Sister of Saint Ann Died peacefully, March 16, 2005, at St. Ann's Residence, Victoria, BC, at the age of 100. Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, to Samuel and Caroline Wheldon, January 24, 1905, Miriam Theresa was the oldest of 5 children. She received her early education in Vancouver and Victoria, BC and graduated from St. Joseph's School of Nursing, Victoria, BC in 1927. In August, 1934, she entered the Novitiate of The Sisters of St. Ann, Victoria, BC, and took her first vows July 26, 1936. Sister Miriam Theresa worked in hospitals in Victoria, Campbell River, and Juneau, AK. before transferring to St. Anne de Beaupre, QC, in 1952, where she assisted in Obstetrics. She also ministered in Marlborough, MA. and Lachine QC until 1959. Sister returned to B.C. where she nursed in Smithers, Nelson and Victoria until 1980. On retiring she rendered services at Mt. St. Mary and Mt. St. Angela until she moved to St. Ann's Residence in 1983. Here she devoted herself to Community Service and prayer. Predeceased by her parents, 3 brothers and 1 sister, she will be sadly missed by family, friends and members of her Religious Community. A prayer service will be held at St. Ann's Residence, 2474 Arbutus Road, Victoria, BC, March 21, 2005 at 7:00 pm. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at St. Ann's Residence, March 22, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. Following the service, interment will take place at Hatley Memorial Gardens, Colwood. 55344
