To the Searles & Weich families:
I've only known Kate a few years and she was always pleasant and welcoming. She was a great cook and knew her stuff as a bartender. She was always looking for interesting things to fuel her passion for her work. She was the ideal life partner for my cousin Lee. To loose a true soul mate is difficult especially when there were plans and dreams yet to be fulfilled.
I feel your pain. May God give you strength and comfort during those days that you find most challenging.
Love,
Kathy, David and Davleen Bailey

Dearest Kate,

I'm speechless and full of sorrow.
Oh, dear Kate, you are very much missed.
But my memories of our friendship bring you back to life, and put a smirk on my face.
We had some fun times, didn't we - us musketeers :)

You were an inspiration since university days.
I so looked up to you and admired all that you were and did.
Your creativity, your joyeux de vie,
and how you grabbed life by the balls.
Oh, dear Kate, you will be very much missed.

Know that you will always be my favorite painter, you and Lisa.
And forever a musketeer.

Love you,
Liz

I remember Kathy as beautiful and as a talented sportsman. It wasn't until years later that I learned she was an artist as well. As a classmate from Victoria High School, Class of '75 I send my heartfelt condolences to her family and close friends. Gone much too soon, you WILL remain alive in our hearts...

Kathy and I were best friends all through high school. I have many fond memories of us together. We slowly drifted apart when she went to Toronto, but I often thought of her and she always brought a smile to my face. I love you Kathy. My condolences to the Family.

I remember Kathy (as she was known in school) as an amazing runner. She was the fastest 18yr.old in the 100M on Vancouver Island in 1975. Kathy was denied the opportunity to prove she was #1 in the province at the BC High School Championships when an unfortunate stumble out of the starting blocks prevented her from completing the race. We knew she would follow her bliss and become an accomplished artist. It is a pleasure to view her collection.

Good bye Kate, You have always been an inspiration for me and I am sure you were for many others, first through your successful carreer and then by your brave fight. I am so glad I have a little piece to remind me every day.

Kate's art is at Muse Gallery in Toronto http://www.musegallery.ca/featuredartists/painting/Weich/index.html - where there is a lovely biography of Kate, where she says "My aim is not to present a finalized view of a given subject. I hope to offer a place where you can contemplate and bring your own visions." http://www.musegallery.ca/featuredartists/painting/Weich/WeichBio.html
