Karl-Heinz HANISCH Obituary

HANISCH, Karl-Heinz Peter February 21, 1929 – September 15, 2013 Karl passed away suddenly after a brief illness. He is survived by his loving wife and soulmate of 53 years, Kathleen and beloved daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Philips Principe. As a boy, Karl survived the horrors of war-torn Europe and eventually emigrated to Canada. He was a supervisor and grocer for Malkins, Westfair Foods and later Economart until his retirement. A truly kind and gentle person, he always had a smile and greeting for everyone he met, but his greatest love was his family. Predeceased by his father, mother, stepmother and brother Peter, he leaves behind sister, Monika (Peter); brothers, Gunter, Dietrich, Friedrich (Ute) and Klaus (Venny) in Germany; brother, Manfred (Erika) in Sorento, BC and many nieces, nephews and extended family. Karl will be cremated and his ashes interred at Royal Oak Burial Park. No funeral service or flowers at his request. There will be a gathering at a later date at our family home to share loving memories of Dad. Those who wish may make a donation to the Victoria SPCA in his memory. We wish to thank the wonderful nurses, doctors and staff of Victoria General Hospital Emergency Department for their tender-loving care and compassion for Dad and our family. Special thanks to Dr. Andrew MacPherson and nurses Jay and June.

Dear Sue and family:
We were shocked and saddened to hear of the passing of your father. After speaking with you Sue, Dave and I started reminiscing about our first years in the neighbourhood and all the times spent in conversation with your dad and 'Ilsa'. It seemed that not a day would pass that we didn't run into each other. We'll miss seeing him out getting his mail or frequenting the local stores. He was a man who loved and was very proud of his family and I know he will be missed by you all.
May God bless you in your time of sorrow.
David and Leslie
