Verle BARTON Obituary

BARTON, Verle Mildred (Teed) Verle Mildred Barton (nee Toombs), passed away peacefully in her sleep on the morning of September 24th 2013, at Ridgeview Lodge in Kamloops. Born November 20th, 1918 in Calgary, Alberta. Verle was 94 years old. She was predeceased by her Husband of 63 years Alfred James Barton in 2001, her parents Harold Arthur Toombs and Kitty Mildred Brown; her siblings, Opal Russell, Edward Toombs, and Verdel Toombs, as well as one great-grandchild, Miles Taylor. Verle loved children and along with her own four, raised many foster children. She was a Tupperware dealer for many years. She also sold and used Sunasu vitamins, which she would have told you helped her live her life to the fullest. She and husband Alfred enjoyed square dancing and bowling. In the 1980's Verle was one of the eldest bathers in the annual Kelowna Polar Bear swim. She loved to sing and sang in her church choir and many other singing groups. She was an avid yodeller, which she says she learned calling the chickens as a child. Verle is survived by her children; daughter, Judith Lynn Taylor of Pritchard, B.C., son, Bryon James Barton (Eileen) of Wardlow Alberta, daughter Wendy Rose Hall (Bill) of Sooke, B.C., son Robin Russell Barton, (Rose) of Dunster, B.C, as well as son-in-law Derwyn Taylor of Kamloops. She leaves 11 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews, and sister-in-law Thirza Sieg. A celebration of Verle's life will be held at the Pritchard Community Hall, Pritchard, B.C. on October 19th, 2013 at 11:00 am, luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to the charity of your choice.
