Leonard GRAVES Obituary

GRAVES, Leonard Leslie (Len) June 3, 1950 - July 5, 2014 It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Anne's soul mate and husband, Len Graves on July 5, 2014. Len died as he lived - with grace, humility, introspection and precision. He left this earth with Lotta, Riley and Anne by his side and without a trace of angst or worry. Len grew up in Half Moon Bay where his parents ran the General Store. A machinist by trade he worked at Hafer Machine Company and then Alliance Engineering until his illness forced him to retire. Len and Anne (Dyson) shared 24 incredible years diving, fishing, cycling and generally having fun together even though three of those years also included innumerable chemotherapy sessions. He treated his cancer with the disdain it deserved and made the most of every second. Len will be missed by Anne and their hounds; sister Carson (Rob); in-laws Mike, Bill, Maureen, Peter, Elizabeth and James; his nieces and nephews; and his amazing community of dear friends and colleagues. Len is pre-deceased by his parents, James and Williamina. We are so thankful for the wonderful care provided to Len by Drs. Domke, Anderson, and Kuechler and the staff of the BC Cancer Agency - especially those in the chemotherapy treatment room. The unfailing support and love shown by family, wonderful friends and neighbours will be forever remembered and appreciated. A gathering to celebrate Len's life will be held on Sunday July 27th, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at The Chief and Petty Officers' Mess CFB Esquimalt (1575 Lyall St.). In lieu of flowers, donations to the BC Cancer Agency would be appreciated. Len will be remembered for his wisdom, kindness, sense of humour and love of life.
