Arthur WAGSTAFF Obituary

WAGSTAFF, Arthur Grant Arthur "Art" Wagstaff passed away suddenly in a tragic plane crash in Iceland August 9, 2015 doing what he loved doing - flying. Grant was born in Barrie, Ontario August 3, 1959, but lived much of his life in Kelowna, BC. Grant began his flying career when he got his Private Pilot license in Ottawa when he was 16. Grant was a great swimmer and scuba diver and spent several years in his youth as a lifeguard in Kelowna. Grant leaves behind his wife Roslyn Wagstaff of Victoria and their children Sarah Wagstaff of Vancouver, Tyler Wagstaff and Claire Wagstaff both of Victoria; his mother Elizabeth "Betty" Wagstaff of Kelowna, nieces and nephews and in-laws also in Kelowna. I knew Art in Rutland as a friend and band member. He took me flying and out on his boat as well as his fancy British convertible. We always had great fun. You are always in my memories.

So sorry to hear about Grant's (Art) passing.
I played sports with Art right from elementary school at South Rutland thru high school at RSS.
A super guy and many a fun night spent in Art's beloved Mini Austin.
Often wondered how he was doing as we all knew his great passion for flying even back then.
He will be missed.

Shocked and saddened to hear of Grant's passing. I attended Rutland Senior Secondary with 'Art' as he was called back then. As is so often the case, we lose touch with classmates over the years. I wish I would have known he was in the Victoria area, as I have made this my home for the last 35 years. My condolences to the entire Wagstaff family.
