NEWMAN, Clifford James Died peacefully on June 11, 2017 in Victoria, B.C. He was born on June 27, 1934 in Victoria, BC. Cliff is survived by his wife Kathy; children Mike (Susan), Steve (Deana), Cathie (James), Cheryl, Geoff, Russell (Paris) and Bruce (Victoria), grandchildren: Emily and Sarah Newman, Riley and Mya Newman, Brandon, Nathan, Travis and Jennifer Clark (Newman), Adam and Justin Courtnall, Ally, Lawton and Brooklyn Courtnall and Cassie and Jackson Courtnall. Cliff grew up in Vic West and went to Vic High. He started playing soccer in high school and then with the Gorge Soccer Association as an adult and was still playing with some of the same players in 2017. He worked for The Ministry of Forests (then called BC Reforestation from 1952 until retirement. His greatest pleasures were being involved in all of his family's sporting events and golfing with his buddies. The family would like to send a special thank you to Dr. Dan Warren and the doctors and nurses on 6th Floor North at VGH for the wonderful care they gave Cliff. A Celebration of Cliff's Life will be held at Pro Pats Legion, 411 Gorge Road East on Friday, June 30, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to www.gorgesoccer.ca.
