He enjoyed hosting family picnics and special events at the lake. The Dhillon family would like to acknowledge the incredible care and support provided to Chin by the Victoria Cancer Clinic, Victoria Hospice and Dr. Shaun Humphries. Please join the family for a memorial service, to be held in the Sequoia Centre at McCall Gardens, 4665 Falaise Drive, Victoria, on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at 11:30 am. It is with great sadness that we learned of the passing of our friend Surinder Dhillon.I was introduced to the Dhillon family at an early age,and was accepted along with my friend Dave. My brother Bill, and my sister Barb, went to school with Surinder and his brother Jaginder. My sister also went tgo Vic High with their older brother Ab. I have many fond memories of time spent in the Dhillon home on Wark Street, either playing games,or sharing with their grandfather watching documentaries particularly untamed world which was a favourite. Coming from an industrious family myself, I appreciated their ability to work together as a family unit, and only hoped that these abilities would be reflected on me. I have many stories that I could tell about my time on Wark Street, with the Dhillon family, but one in particular that I am proud to tell is the time that I was riding my bike down the street( training), and I heard a car beeping at me, and when I finally stopped, it was Surinder calling me over and he proceeded to introduce ne to his wife to be. He was so proud to do this, and I was equally proud that he thought enough about me to share that moment with me. Although I have lost a friend, I am left with many good memories of a wonderful man who left an amazing legacy, My condolences to the Dhillon family

Most of us can count on one hand our closest and dearest friends. This week I lost one of mine. Chin was a prince of a man. His kindness and compassion knew no bounds. He bestowed it equally on everyone he met. His ability to channel joy in spite of difficult circumstances taught me about courage and earned him my deepest respect. He was fiercely happy for each moment he spent with friends and family, especially at the lake. Chin loved the lake. It was where he found his greatest peace. His passing is a reminder that time is short and if we are to accomplish things the time is now. That was his final gift to me. Chin, it was a privilege to call you my friend. In the words of William Shakespeare: Now cracks a noble heart. Goodnight, sweet prince; And flights of angels sing thee to thy rest.

My deepest condolences to your beautiful family.

I remember when I was first introduced
to the family. Chin right away reached out and made me feel comfortable. Soon I was happily in the midst of everything. I feel tears coming to my eyes as I write this. He had great wisdom and was a teacher of life. He had such a good spirit and was so caring . My thoughts and sympathies go out to all the Dhillon family at the time.

I had the pleasure of knowing Chin and his family when I rented the downstairs suite from him at the lake cottage in Langford. Chin was a kind, sweet gentle man with a wonderful sense of humor & was always smiling. It was obvious how much he adored his family. I was deeply saddened to read today that Chin had passed away. To the Dhillon family: I know there are no words to ease the pain of your loss. Please know that you have my deepest heartfelt sympathy at this time. If I can be of any assistance please email me. So sorry to hear about Chin's passing. I worked with him for many years at CLMB and remember him always smiling and full of good humor. He would be telling a story about a prank he and his twin had pulled or about how people were always mixing him up with Gin. I remember talking to Gin, thinking it was Chin; he never let on that he wasn't who I thought he was. My favorite story was the one about the suit jacket at a men's story that Gin had ordered and Chin ended up with on sale. He was so proud of his kids and would tell me karate stories as he knew I was into karate. So many memories - all happy ones. Rest in peace, Chin. My prayers and thought of love to the family and loved ones left behind.

I'm SO sorry to hear about Chin's passing. I worked with him in CLMB for so many years. I remember him as a fun person, so cheerful and full of good humor. I remember the stories he told about his twin brother and him and the various pranks they played. I remember talking to Gin one day, thinking it was Chin and Gin never let on that he wasn't Chin. I guess the best story Chin told was the one about the suit jacket at a men's clothing store that Gin had ordered and he ended up with it. He was so proud of his kids and talked about them and karate. So many memories - all happy ones. Rest in peace, Chin. My prayers and thoughts of love to the family and those left behind.

I worked with Chin in 1981 at Bank of Montreal, Howe St.Vancouver & again at LAB 1993 - 2004 & it was a pleasure to have known such an honourable person. Chin never displayed anything other than good humour and a respectful manner in dealing with colleagues and others. Chin's family can be rightly proud of him for these and other qualities. May we and they have peace in having had him amongst us.

Very saddened to hear of Chin's passing. Having worked with Chin at CLMB for many years, I remember him to always be very cheerful. During summertime breaks, we could find Chin leaning up against the Carnegie Building (at CLMB) with his face to the sun and the skies above.... He seemed to be such a peaceful person with a love for life. My thoughts and prayers are with his family during this time of grief. He will be missed.

Mrs. Dhillon (Sawaran), Mrs. Dhillon (Balvinder), Davina (and family) I am so sorry to hear Chin passed away. He was a kindred spirit to many and the best way I can think of honoring him is to share a memory I have of him with you.
Balvinder I use to cross paths with Chin during lunchtime. Sometimes he would be peering into his brown paper lunch bag with a pondering look on his face like he forgot something. I would ask "Everything okay Chin? Did you lose something?" and he would tell me "I am trying to remember what I forgot to do for my wife. If I forgot to do something she sends me to work with a bread sandwich." "No kidding?" I replied, "Chin she is a smart lady!" and Chin would get a smile that lit up his whole face making his eyes twinkle and he would say "Lisa I am the smart one for convincing her to marry me." Everyday Chin had some pearls of wisdom to share about life or people in general and I truly enjoyed talking with him. He always had a special insight and appreciation for life. This I know - wherever he is at right now; he is telling everyone he meets that he is the luckiest man to be blessed with the most beautiful smart and warm hearted wife, loving daughter and extra special mother.

My thoughts are with you all and a very big and warm thank you for sharing him with us all. XOXOXO
