Victor Zupanc Obituary

ZUPANC, Victor Victor was born in Slovenia, Europe during a very difficult time. Mother, father and seven children lived in several countries moving all over Europe during the depression and then World War 2. As a teenager Victor fought on the front lines as a Slovenian Partisan soldier successfully keeping the Nazis out of Yugoslavia. In 1957 Victor left Slovenia and made his way to Port Alberni on Vancouver Island and worked in a logging camp. In 1958 he married Margaret from his old Slovenian neighborhood and they moved to Victoria in 1960. They gave birth to two sons, Victor and Robert. The family grew and lived a life full of love. Music became an important part of this household. Victor senior loved music, especially Slovenian folk music. He was a big sports fan, a diehard Montreal Canadiens and Vancouver Canucks fan. Victor worked for Chew Excavating for 25 years. He was respected and loved by many. He died December 13, 2017 from natural causes at the age of 88. He was proceeded in death by father Frank, mother Maria, sister Mira, brothers John, Frank and Emil. He is survived by sisters Vera and Rezi both in Slovenia; also by wife Margaret and sons Robert and Victor, daughter-in-law Dianne and granddaughters Luisa and Lydia. Funeral services will be held at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church on Burnside and McKenzie in Victoria at 11:00am on Wednesday, December 20; interment at First Memorial on Falaise Dr. at 3:00pm.

My thoughts are with you all at this time of grief. I keep a good memory of victor, I remember how he was always playful and funny. May you also keep a good souvenir.
