JOHNSON, Brian Robert April 4, 1932 - December 25, 2020 Brian, born in Victoria, B.C., passed away peacefully during his sleep in his Victoria home the morning of December 25th. He will be remembered with loving hearts by his amazing wife of 66 years Jean; his three children - Brad, Karen (Aaron), and Matt (Julie) and his five grandchildren - Jacob, Trista, Mallory, Myles, and Chloe. He was a gentle, kind, and caring soul with an incredibly keen sense of wonder for the world around him and a great sense of humour Brian graduated with distinction from Art Center College in Los Angeles, California. He was a member of the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours and was awarded their annual medal for most outstanding work. He was an honorary citizen of Victoria. Brian spent a lifetime exploring local seashores and out of the way places to study the interaction of light and land and sea, often accompanied by Jean and their two canine companions Robbie and Bella. Many paintings resulted from traversing Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands while on camping trips with his wife and young children. He was an artist's artist who never ceased exploring the limits of what was possible with watercolour. We are blessed with the everlasting legacy of his art as a reminder of his time with us. We will be forever grateful for the days we shared. Private cremation for family. A celebration of Brian's life will be held at a later date for family and friends. Memories may be shared at
