Jeremy GORDANEER Obituary

Jeremy Eric Gordaneer was a beloved father, brother, son, uncle, husband, cousin, and friend, as well as a gifted painter, scenic designer and sculptor. Predeceased by his father, artist James Gordaneer, he is mourned by so many beloveds: his mother Miria, his daughters Sylvie and Clea, their mother Lina Branter, his best friend and sister Alisa, (Joseph Hoh), his niece Magritte and nephew Sacha, cousins Jason and Miles Black (Linde Looy), countless friends across Canada and around the world, and not least, his heartbroken wife Thea Patterson. Words cannot express how much he will be missed, nor his significance to each and every person who knew and loved him.

This message is for Jeremy's sister and niece, Alyssa and Magritte who I know from playing Fiddle Music together. I don't know what to say and can't even imagine what you are going through, but just wanted e to let you know you are in my thoughts. Music is a great healer.... hope you are doing OK. It takes a long , long time to get through what you are going through.

Jeremy had a kind and gentle way about him. I knew about his love for cats — he made me look at mine with new eyes and appreciation. I knew he was over the moon for Thea — he always looked at her with passion and deep love, in a way that all of us deserve to experience but few ever will. He was extraordinary.

Jeremy was such a lovely calming light. We shared the most playful of laughter and he filled my heart with joy. I loved him dearly. The world has shifted a few degrees somehow without him.

Working with Jeremy at Daisy Chain was a treat! He had a good sense of humour and I remember him teasing Lisa leaving a wooden bead in strategic places for her to find.(It even ended up in my watering bucket!) My heart felt prayers go out to everyone who knew him. I will plan 10 trees in his name with one tree planted.

He was a dear soul in every sense: kind and compassionate, of whimsical humour and gentleness in all he did and said - but he had boundless fire and creativity expressed in painting and stage design. This he shared as he followed his commitment to his own inner visions.

A kind soul and an original. He made everyone he met feel better about themselves. And now he makes me want to follow his example. So hard to say goodbye Jeremy. Thank you so much for what you have brought to us.

I babysat Jeremy when he was a baby when his family lived up the road from our family many years ago in rural Orangeville, Ontario. My mother, sister and I got a chance to see Jeremy a number of years ago when he had an art show in Toronto. He looks so much like his Dad, James. He was a kind soul. We have lost a lovely and very talented man. I am so sorry for your loss.

One of my favourite people, and probably the funniest. You could count on every conversation, no matter how quotidian the topic, to quickly turn into a session of irreverence, wisdom and hilarity.
A terrible loss to the world, including Alisa. I have never seen a brother and sister as close as her and Jeremy.

Jeremy had a sly smile and a golden heart. He was such a pleasure to be around. A creative mind and a caring loving human being with a great sense of humor. Much love to everyone feeling this loss.

Jeremy shared his spirit, imagination and wonder far beyond this family circle, and the love we share for him and each other will give the support needed to now celebrate his well lived, though too short, lif.
