Mr. Charles F. Ashley, 74, of Greenhill passed away Friday, March 4 at his residence surrounded by his family and close friends, after a brave battle with cancer.
He was a loving husband of 56 years and was "Papa Charlie" to a family to which he devoted his life.
Mr. Ashley was a member of Atlas Church of Christ. He was a former member of the Alabama House of Representatives. He was a proud union member and served as International Representative for the United Association of Plumbers & Pipefitters, as well as former Business Manager for Plumbers & Pipefitters U.A. Local 760. He also developed and implemented the Local 760 Local and National Pension Funds and Health & Welfare.
His memory will live forever in the hearts of his family, including wife, Louise Canerday Ashley; sons, Freddie Ashley and wife Kathy, Billy Ashley and wife Shelia; daughter Alyssa "Cissy" and husband Bill Bole, Jr.; brothers, Bob Ashley (Ann), Johnny Ashley; grandchildren, Misty Ashley, Tamra McGee (Donnie), Kenny Ashley (Lauren), Trey Ashley (Hollie), Breanna Hood, Samuel Hood; great-grandchildren, Taylor Robbins, Noah Borden, Emry Ashley, Isabella Ashley; several nieces and nephews; and two special dogs, Champ & Blackjack "The Boys".
Pallbearers will be Selton Killen, Keith Huntley, Dale Barnett, Ricky Curbow, Lee Bratton, Jim Kasmeier, Terry McLaughlin and Ronnie Ray. Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Mayes and Bill Moore.
Visitation will be Sunday, March 6 from 1 pm to 3 pm at Greenview Memorial Chapel with a graveside funeral service following at 3 pm at Greenview Memorial Gardens. Brother Van Vansandt will be officiating.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the nurses & staff of Southern Care Hospice, Dr. Lyman Mitchell, Jr. & staff and all friends & family for their love, prayers and support.

I just heard about the passing of Charles.
I am so sorry to hear this.
I have great memories of your Family while at Centerhill and with little Misty.

Charles was a wonderful person and he will be greatly missed.
