The funeral for Mrs. Frances June Campbell Baughn will be Saturday, May 15, 2004, at 2 p.m. at Elkins Funeral Home chapel, with the Rev. Leonard McDowell officiating. Burial will follow in Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Elkins Funeral Home is assisting the family.Mrs. Baughn, 80, of Florence, was born in Madison County to William Clyde Campbell Sr. and Jessie Leona Thrift Campbell. She graduated from Huntsville Hugh School and received a B.S. degree with Turris Fidelis award from Florence State Teachers College (now UNA). She married Milton L. Baughn on Aug. 7, 1948.She taught in Madison County two years and in Arkansas and Florida one year each. She moved to Florence in August 1962, when Milton began teaching at Florence State College, and taught at Appleby Jr. High for three years. She became the bookkeeper at Coffee High School, serving 12 years, and then taught in the Lauderdale County school system for five years.Mrs. Baughn was a member of First United Methodist Church of Florence, where she sang in the choir, served on the Board of Stewards, was a long-time treasurer of United Methodist Women and held offices in Circle 4.She volunteered at VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistant), the Florence Public LibraryHistory and Genealogy Room, Florence Mother Singers and United Methodist Women. Gardening, playing bridge and traveling were her hobbies.Mrs. Baughn is survived by her husband, Dr. Milton L. Baughn; sons, David Baughn, of Tuscaloosa, and Brian Baughn, of Nashville; daughter, Susan B. Saint-Rossy and husband, Dan, of Arlington, Va.; grandson, Lee Baughn, of Chapel Hill, N.C.; granddaughter, Natalie Saint-Rossy, of Arlington, Va.; sister, Mary Sue Campbell, of Oak Ridge, Tenn.; half nieces in Texas; half nephew in Huntsville; half sister-in-law, Annie Mae Campbell, of Huntsville; close family friend, Dorothy Alexander, of Huntsville.In lieu of flowers, gifts to First United Methodist Church of Florence Building Fund, Florence Public Library, American Cancer Society or Hospice of the Shoals would be appreciated.
