Candy, Stefan, and family,
I am so sorry for your loss. I had met Tom in Germany and he became a valued mentor and friend. When I moved to Richmond we met several times and spoke on the phone not too long ago. He was a passionate and imaginative scientist and loved European culture. And he always spoke about his children and grandchildren as a proud father and grandfather. I am sorry that I heard about his death too late to attend the funeral, but be assured that I will keep the precious memories of him for the rest of my life.

Candy and family,

I am sorry for your loss. Tom was a mentor to me and was instrumental in my working at PM for 35 years. He convinced me to take a full time job and have PM pay for my education. I know that he helped many others, too. May your fond memories of your time with Tom bring you and the family comfort.

Candy - I enjoyed our Cooking as a Second Language Classes at WBCH. I loved how Tom enjoyed talking and sharing stories with the guest chefs, many of them were his friends who shared their time with us because of you two. I loved his sense of humor and am grateful to his generosity in sponsoring the CSL program as well as the BHM Farmlet. I regret that I did not get to know him better or longer. The world is not as interesting a place without him.
