On August 25, 2017, Emilie Ann McCarthy Degville Richey, beloved wife of Matthew Lee Richey, died peacefully at her home in Bridgeport, PA. Emilie was born on December 8, 1961 in Washington, DC, spending her youth growing up in Potomac, Maryland, and was the loving daughter of David and Mary McCarthy. Emilie was a graduate of Georgetown University, Class of 1983, with a Bachelors of Arts in political science, and eventually settled in Bridgeport, Pennsylvania, several years later.

Em was a devoted wife, a dedicated mother, stepmother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was known to many for her kind and open heart. Her greatest enjoyments in life, outside of spending time with her beloved husband, Matthew Richey, were being on the beach, getting lost in a book, spending her Sundays watching Eagles Football with friends and family, having a glass of wine, and dancing.
She is survived by her husband, Matthew Richey of Bridgeport, PA. Emilie was the mother of the late Madeline Degville, stepmother of Angela Carney (Mark Carney), Joseph Richey (Samantha Richey), Erica Richey, and Andrew Richey; daughter of David and Mary McCarthy; sister of Mary Ward (Rick Ward), Carolyn McCarthy (Randy Pack), and the late Katherine McCarthy; the aunt of Shannon Ward, Ross Ward, and Hannah Ward; and the grandmother of Carson Carney.
