Roger Mark Adelman

Roger Mark Adelman, formerly of Norristown Roger Mark Adelman of Washington, D.C., passed away peacefully on September 13, 2015 at age 74. He was the son of Mary Butz Adelman and Louis (Dixie) Adelman, and the brother of Jean Adelman Fried each of whom predeceased him. Roger grew up in Norristown and starred on the Norristown High football team and a member of the school’s Hall of Fame. He was a graduate of Dartmouth College 1963, and received his law degree at the University of Pennsylvania in 1966. Afterwards he served in the Army and then became an Assistant United States Attorney for the District of Columbia for 18 years where he excelled as a trial lawyer handling many high visibility cases including the prosecution of John Hinckley for the attempted assassination of President Ronald Reagan, and the ABSCAM litigation in which he prosecuted a congressman for misuse of his office. Roger was an adjunct professor at Georgetown Law School for 24 years, and was honored for his distinguished teaching career where he taught hundreds of Georgetown students. He also served as an assistant special prosecutor in the investigation of what became to be known as “Travelgate” involving alleged improprieties in the White House travel office. In 1997 Roger jointed the international law firm Kirkpatrick & Lockhart LLP (now K&L Gates, LLP) as a partner where he specialized in criminal defense work. Subsequently, he entered private practice in Washington, D.C. where he specialized in white collar criminal defense. He was a founder of the William B. Bryant American Inns of Court, and a member of the American College of Trial Lawyers. Funeral services will be at 2 pm Wednesday, September 16, 2016 at Riverside Cemetery, 200 S. Montgomery Ave., Norristown, PA 19403. Attendees will gather beginning at 1 pm at Boyd-Horrox-Givnish Life Celebration Home, 200 W. Germantown Pike, East Norriton, PA 19401 with interment following at Riverside Cemetery, in close proximity to his beloved parents. A memorial service will be held at the United States Court House, Washington, D.C. at a date to be determined.
