Charles H. Champion Notice
Sept. 21, 1943-April 19, 2018 Benicia Charles H. Champion, 74, of Benicia passed away peacefully after a brief illness Thursday at his home. He was born in Overland, Ohio, grew up in Vacaville and Benicia where he graduated from Benicia High School. He spent close to 15 years in Benicia before moving to Vallejo 34 years ago. Charles worked in private security for many years and with several different firms including Pinkerton, American Protective Services, California Plant Protection, Kaiser and Burns Security. Charles also owned and operated an ARCO Gas Station on Highway 80 in Vacaville for many years. He was an avid coin and stamp collector and enjoyed playing golf, fishing on the Klamath River, camping, water skiing, was a great cook, enjoyed rooting for the Giants and 49ers and spending time with his friends and family. One of his greatest gifts was his ability to make others laugh. Charles is survived by Twillia, his wife of 54 years; son Randy Champion; daughter Cat (Rick) Watson; brothers Robert (Pat) & Howard (Karen) Champion; sister Joan (Mike) Bayne and his grandchildren Taylor Tobias & Peyton Irene O'Brien. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 22nd at Passalacqua Funeral Chapel. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Hospice of the East Bay.
