Edward A. Deitzler Notice
Feb. 17, 1921 - Jan. 3, 2018 Vallejo Edward A. Deitzler passed away Jan. 3, at Vista Prado in Vallejo. Born Feb. 17, 1921 to Arthur and Anna Deitzler in Lebanon, PA. He graduated from Lebanon High School in 1939. Edward joined the Navy following the bombing of Pearl Harbor. He served in the South Pacific during the war. He retired from the Navy in 1963. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Irene Deitzler; a sister, Marion of San Diego; two daughters, Cynthia and (Henry "Buck") Kelly of The Villages, FL, Valerie (Greg) Escher of Ft. Bragg, CA; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. Edward retired from the Vallejo Sanitation District after 20 years of service. He also taught diesel engines to midshipmen at the California Maritime Academy for several years. A memorial service will be held at Open Door Christian Church, 3353 Broadway St. (Hwy. 29 and Am. Can. Rd.), American Canyon, CA 94503 (707) 648-8888 on Saturday, May 19, at 1 p.m. Donations in Edward's name can be made to Grace Community Church, 1450 E. Oak St., Fort Bragg, CA 95437.
