Sept. 21, 1932 - July 17, 2018 Vallejo Mary Sue King (DeWitty) was born in Austin, TX on Sept. 21, 1932 to her proud parents, Frank DeWitty and Easter Overton. She attended Prairie View A&M University (AA Degree), UC Berkeley (Bachelor's Degree), and San Francisco State University (Master's Degree). She later met and married Norman C. King. From this union was born two sons, Forrest Lynn and Roderick Von King. She enjoyed gardening, which was her passion, and community activism, where she served on the Vallejo Chapter of the National Council of Negro Women and was one of the early members helping to organize the Vallejo Juneteenth celebration. She was also a member of the Delta Sigma Theta, Incorporated Sorority and the Links Incorporated. She departed this life on July 17, and was preceded in death by her husband, Norman C. King, and all of her brothers and sisters. She leaves to mourn her passing, sons, Forrest Lynn and Roderick Von King; grandsons, Rashod, Norman, Leelynn and Vincent; granddaughters, Lillian and Aja; 10 great grandchildren, and one great-great granddaughter. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 8 from 3 to 8 p.m., at Skyview Funeral Chapel, 200 Rollingwood Drive, Vallejo. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, Aug. 9, at 10 a.m., at Revival Center, 910 Tennessee St., Vallejo, burial to follow at Skyview Memorial Lawn. Repass immediately following the graveside service at Norman C. King Center, from 1 to 3 p.m., at 545 Magazine St., Vallejo.
