Rosalie Yolanda (Chelini) Gibson Oct. 1, 1927 - May 8, 2018 Rosalie Yolanda (Chelini) Gibson died at the age of 90 on May 8, in Vallejo, after an extended illness. She was born in El Verano, CA on Oct. 1, 1927. She graduated from Sonoma Valley Union High School in 1945. She enjoyed the outdoors, wildflowers, rocks, gardening, art, movies, team sports, service clubs and employment in agriculture and small retail work. She was active in the Ladies' Auxillary of the VFW in Sonoma and supported the war effort as a volunteer and by working at Mare Island Naval Shipyard. In 1949 she married Byron Gibson and they settled in Vallejo, where they raised a family and where she would live for 68 years. She was an active member of St. Vincent's Catholic Church, Beverly Hills Elementary, Franklin Jr. and Hogan Sr. High Schools PTA, Lifetime Membership in Native Daughters of the Golden West and the Carl Kreh Post 1123 VFW, Singing Belles, Night Owls, and other service and social groups. She worked as "yard teacher" at Beverly Hills and as a clerk at Winchell's Donuts Shop and St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store. She liked to know "what will happen next" by being an active part of the lives and interests of her ever-growing family. She lived her last 13 years under the care of Alma Bella Manor. She was predeceased in 2003 by Byron Gibson, her husband of 54 years, and is survived by one sister, Dorothy Domenichelli of Camino, CA, and by her four children, Shirley (Jack) Knight of Vallejo, Rose Ann (Daniel) Wells of Penryn, Richard Gibson of El Verano, and Laura (Lawrence) McMillion of Milwaukie, OR; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren, and a large extended family. Viewing will be Friday, May 18, from 5 p.m., with Rosary at 7 p.m. Saturday, May 19, a Catholic Prayer Service will be held at 11 a.m. All services will be at the Chapel at Skyview Memorial Lawn, 200 Rollingwood Drive, Vallejo. Interment will take place at All Souls Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to the direction and care of Skyview Memorial Lawn, 707-644-7474.
