Jan. 21, 1934 - Jan. 3, 2018 Vallejo Rose was born in Clarksville, IL to Lester and Agnes Fox. She graduated from Redmon High School in 1952 and received a business degree from Illinois Commercial College and completed management and legal courses at Solano and Diablo Valley Colleges. She worked as secretary and administrative assistant for the Army at Two Rock Ranch Station, Petaluma; for the Air Force Dependent Schools in Zaragoza, Spain; and Navy at Mare Island Navy at Mare Island Naval Shipyard for 30 years. The last 15 years were in the Shipyard Legal Office. She was president of MINSY Toastmistress Club, Council 5, ITC; charter secretary of Dona Benicia Lioness Club and district secretary, member California state Association of Parliamentarians, and secretary of Chapter 16 National Active and Retired Federal Employees Assn (NARFE). Member of the Carquinez Strait Stichers Quilt Guild. Rose is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Bob. She is survived by her brother, George (Tana) Fox; two daughters, Peggy (Dan) Hart, and Paula Schmidt; three grandsons, James (Amanda) Hicks, Rob (Alicia), and Ryan Hart; three great granddaughters, Madison, Ella and Violet Hicks. Our mother enjoyed volunteering her time at church and other organizations, quilting, cooking (especially for others and making her friendship bread), and traveling. She will be greatly missed by all. Memorial service will be Saturday, Jan. 13, at 10 a.m., at Castlewood Baptist Church, 3615 Georgia St., Vallejo. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Castlewood Baptist Church or Alzheimer's Fund via NARFE Chapter 16, P.O. Box 4629, Vallejo, CA 94590.
